adn102 artist development artist development newsletter marketing persuasion Nov 03, 2024

How to persuade your fans to act in four simple steps:

  1. Give them good things for taking your desired action.
  2. Take away bad things for taking your desired action.
  3. Add bad things if they do nothing.
  4. Take away good things if they do nothing.

Here is an example:

Album Pre-Order

  • If you pre-order your vinyl by (x date), we will give you (4) free limited edition CDs (1 for you and 3 for your friends) and a signed lyric.
  • Remove the blank place in your vinyl collection, collect (4) exclusive CDs, and check off 3 of your Christmas gifts for the year today and a one-of-a-kind signed lyric.
  • This pre-order offer ends on 11/30/24.
  • After this date, the limited edition CDs and signed lyrics will be gone forever.

Here is another:

Tour Pre-Sale

  • Subscribe to our tour pre-sale for a free tour poster and access to cheaper tickets, VIP meet-and-greets, and more.
  • There is no line, no worrying about not getting a ticket and no unexpected fees.
  • If you wait for the general on-sale, prices will be $5 more.
  • After the pre-sale, there is no VIP access or free tour posters.

Here is one more:

  • Join our fan club and receive access to exclusive merchandise, 20% off (1) merch purchase per year, $50 off (1) meet & greet package per year, exclusive quarterly live-stream hangs with the band, First access to In-person events, first listens to new music, exclusive live concert footage and more.
  • No fear of missing out, no more wondering what is next. You will always have access to the latest news and exclusive merchandise, content, and music first.
  • Fan club entry is twice a year for 12 months: January 15th and June 15th. If you miss the window, you must wait until the next entry window opens. This helps us ensure that everyone receives the same benefits for each period.
  • By not joining, you will miss out on being the first to access new music, merchandise, meet-and-greets, news, live concerts, live-stream events, and In-person events.

When building your offer, always consider ways to incentivize your audience by offering them extreme value for your price.

Also, ensure you are creating a demand for them to act.

You can do this in many different ways:

  • Put an end date on your offer.
  • Put a window on the entry period.
  • Explain what will be missed by not joining.
  • Explain what will be gained by joining.

 — — -

If you do this correctly, you will see an uptick in your audience’s engagement with your offerings.

No one likes to miss out on a great offer.

If your fans want more from you, you just need to create a killer offer and do an exceptional job explaining why it is.

Do this, and you will see a more engaged fan base and more money in your pocket.

See you next Sunday -
